How it works

Three steps, then forget about it.

Curacast runs beside your media server and schedules your own files into continuous channels. It doesn't copy anything, and it doesn't phone your library home.

1

Connect your server

Point Curacast at Plex, Jellyfin, Emby, or a folder of files. Mix as many sources as you like in a single channel.

2

Build channels

Hand-pick what airs, or write a rule — every 90s comedy rated PG-13, shuffled, refreshed weekly — and let it fill itself.

3

Watch anywhere

Plex DVR discovers Curacast as an HDHomeRun tuner automatically. Or use the M3U and XMLTV guide in any IPTV player.

Features

Built like a broadcast station, not a playlist.

A channel that's genuinely always on, with an accurate guide, is surprisingly hard. That's most of what Curacast does.

📺

HDHomeRun emulation

Plex DVR finds it over SSDP with no manual tuner setup. It looks like real hardware.

🗓️

Real XMLTV guide

A programme guide that matches what actually airs, so the grid isn't lying to you.

🧠

Smart channels

Filter by genre, rating, recency, server or library. Auto-refreshes on your schedule.

🔀

Nine sort orders

Including a deterministic shuffle that stays stable across refreshes, and show-interleaved round-robin.

Hardware encoding

NVENC, VAAPI, QSV and VideoToolbox, so transcoding doesn't melt your server.

🎬

Station tooling

Filler, bumpers, time slots, custom shows, watermarks and burn-in subtitles.

📊

Viewer analytics

Per-channel sessions, peak concurrent viewers, and scrobbling back to your server.

🎞️

TMDB enrichment

Authoritative genres, ratings and release dates so smart-channel rules actually match.

📁

Local files too

Play straight off disk with NFO metadata — no media server required at all.

Security

It holds tokens to your entire media library.

Anything that stores Plex credentials should be built like it matters. Most tools in this space ship with no authentication at all.

Pricing

One licence, one server, every feature.

No feature tiers and no per-channel pricing. Try the whole thing for two weeks, then a licence lifts the channel limit and keeps it running.

Free trial

The whole product on two channels for two weeks, so you can prove it works on your setup. No card.

Questions

The things people ask first.

Do you host this for me?

No. Curacast installs on your own machine, next to your media server, and your library never leaves your network. What you're buying is a licence to run the software, not a hosted service.

What happens if my subscription lapses?

Nothing breaks and nothing is deleted. Your existing channels carry on streaming — you just can't create new ones beyond the free limit until you renew. Curacast will never kill a stream that's mid-programme.

Does it need internet access to work?

Only occasionally. Your licence is verified offline against a signed token, so a dropped connection, an ISP outage, or a firewall can't stop your channels playing.

What hardware do I need?

Whatever runs your media server is almost certainly enough. Transcoding is the expensive part, and Curacast will use your GPU when one is available.

Does it work with Plex Live TV?

Yes — that's the main way people use it. Curacast presents itself as an HDHomeRun tuner, so Plex discovers it automatically and shows your channels in its own guide. Jellyfin, Emby and any IPTV player work too, via M3U and XMLTV.

One licence covers how many machines?

One server. If that machine dies you can release the activation and move your licence to its replacement yourself — no support ticket needed.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. If it doesn't do what you expected, email us within 30 days and we'll refund you. The 14-day trial exists so you can check it works on your setup before paying.
